HE CHOSE YOU
By Jay Pearson
Have you ever been in a situation where you were waiting for your name to be called? Maybe a trip to the DMV, (Dept of Motor Vehicle) to get something and the line wrapped half way around the building. You knew it would be a long, grueling wait. Then you flash back to school and waiting to be chosen by a team captain to pick you to be on his or her team. If I was picked it was pretty much last. I was never a jock. My friends were never captains so the friendship call was out. Now think about it, the wait is over. This is real life and God, the creator of heaven and earth, chose you before the foundation of the world. Jesus said we didn’t choose him; he chose us. It wasn’t because they thought we were jocks or had great ability. God planned to do all the work. Jesus would do his part to sanctify us in him.
Ephesians 1:4-6
4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29
26
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
We were chosen and picked. We were cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Also sanctified, that is set apart from the world, and justified by the works of Jesus Christ to be children of God, hallelujah! We have been sanctified by the Holy Spirit within. You and I as born-again Christians are bound to glory and eternal life through Christ Jesus. That is the promise of the Father to you.
Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
God has chosen you and cleansed you in the blood of the lamb. He placed incorruptible seed in you.
1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
2 Peter 1:2-3
2
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Yes we are not only chosen, but called. There is no restraint to the Lord to save.
Ephesians 3:20-21
20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Until Jesus returns for us we will always need mercy and grace. No matter how much we try to be perfect we will need the Lord. His mercy and grace sustains us. He is our savior, Lord, and God. Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Jude 1:24-25
24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Thank you, Lord.
