THE TREASURE MAP

By Jay Pearson

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The Lord will direct your paths. Wow! That’s better than Google or GPS. His way is perfect. We trust God because of what he has already done for us.

Psalm 9:10
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Psalm 34:4
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

We have faith in God for what he will do for us.

Ephesians 2:5-7
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

We have proven his integrity many times in our own life. Our faith was given to us by his Son Jesus Christ. The Lord gave us the faith to be born-again.

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Okay now how does the Lord direct our paths? Let’s say we are seeking direction in our circumstances, and we need help. Seek her as silver and search for her as hid treasure. God’s wisdom, knowledge, and understanding is the treasure. It is the most valuable treasure you could ever seek out and find.

Proverbs 3:13-15
13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

Like most treasures, you have to dig for it. Otherwise, everybody would have picked it up already. It requires effort on our part. This is something this world’s population would rather listen to than dig for. Instead of digging for it and exerting effort to receive it they wander on down the road empty. The treasure is there. Let’s you and I hunt for it.

We have access to a treasure map. It is in Proverbs 2:1-6 and notice as you read this treasure map there are requirements to fulfill. Pay close attention to the “IF”s” within the map.

Proverbs 2:1-6
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

The fear of the Lord is valuable to have along with you on this treasure hunt.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

The Lord wants us to seek him. He is willing and able to guide us.

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

God just doesn’t dump revelation wisdom, knowledge, and understanding on us. We need to seek her as silver and rejoice in the finding the answers you seek and request. It won’t always be what we want to here, but his way is best.

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God has already provided knowledge and understanding from his mouth, the written Word of God. Even his written Word requires digging. You can’t pick a verse that suits you to get the full understanding of it’s meaning. You must consider all of his Word to have a more complete understanding of the context.

Proverbs 2:6
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Do you need the Lord’s guidance? Yes, we all do. We need to take this treasure hunt seriously. When we have a need for direction in our life circumstances we need to go to the Lord. We have the treasure map. Let’s use it. Proverbs 2:1-6. And don’t forget to add Proverbs 3:5

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
