God is Faithful

By Betty Landry

Miss BettyMany times in my walk of faith I have come against challenges in which there seemed to be no way of escape, no way out. I realize that sometimes we just don’t evaluate the situation thoroughly enough to see the way out. But there are also times when there really isn’t a way out. For example, as Moses was leading the people towards the Promised Land, they came to a place where they were completely hemmed in – there were mountains on both sides of them, the sea was in front of them, and the Egyptian army was hot on their tails. Truly, there was no way out.

I am ashamed to say that when I arrive at that place, I do no better than the people of Israel did. I fail. I lose faith.  But the awesome thing is that, when I am faithless, God remains faithful.

There are reasons why God brings us to those places. That is when we get to see God show himself to be God. He makes a way where there is no way. He did it for the Israelites and he does it for us.

We want to be able to see the way of escape BEFORE we can see the enemy coming. But that doesn’t require faith. God is faithful to bring his purposes to pass with or without our faith. While he is at it, he will build faith in us as well if we will yield to him.
