I WONDER
By Jay Pearson
It is good to plan ahead for the future. Even the immediate future requires investing in what is coming up. If your job looks shaky and your hours are being cut back, it’s probably a good time to put back a few extra bucks. That’s just good planning to be prepared for the future.
I have a favorite Italian restaurant that only accepts cash. He will not take checks or credit cards. I’ve seen him exercise mercy, and send some folks away with carryout orders and no cash with a "The next time you come back you can bring me the cash. Enjoy your meal." I’m always prepared when I appear for lunch at Pocorella’s.
As Christians with the promise of eternal life, how are we preparing for our future. Lately I’ve wondered with a question that confronts me: WHAT IF I APPEARED BEFORE THE LORD TODAY?
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
The next question that confronts me is: WILL I BE EXCITED, OR WILL I BE ASHAMED when I see the Lord? By that time I will not be able to alter what I have done in my body. It will already have been done.
I’m almost 76 years old. For me and my awareness, my time to stand before the Lord will surely be less than 25 years from now. But whether I appear before the Lord after being awakened from sleep or I am instantly transformed, the question is still the same: Will I be excited or will I be ashamed?
It’s high time to prepare for my eternity with my Lord.
Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO PREPARE TO GET THINGS DONE IN YOUR BODY?
WILL YOU BE EXCITED? OR WILL YOU BE ASHAMED?
Let us pray for each other to be EXCITED!
