THE MEDITATION OF MY HEART
By Jay Pearson
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart,
be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
A healthy heart requires a proper diet. If we fill our heart with good things it will overflow when full. It can only overflow with what is in it. Bad things come out of a heart full of bad things. You can only get out of something what you put into it.
Matthew 12:35:
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
This is why it is so important to feed your heart with goodness. This will equip you to prosper and bring glory to the Lord. You will have a proper diet to give others also. It’s the goodness of God that leads us to repentance and to lead others also. You can point out to a man his wrongdoings — which he is probably better aware of than you. He might just be having difficulty to change it. You could point out that God forgives and loves him and will help him with anything he wishes change. Which do you think will lead him to repentance?
Romans 2:3-4:
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
We help each other when we speak the truth in love.
Ephesians 4:15, 16:
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
The heart can only bear it’s own fruit. You don’t get dirt out of a clean heart.
Psalm 51:10:
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
With this prayer comes a responsibility. The next thing allowed to dwell in this heart will determine it’s condition. We are to keep our heart clean.
Proverbs 4:23:
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
It’s our responsibility to keep our heart clean and conditioned as the Lord gave it. Again what we feed our heart will determine the fruit that the heart bears.
Matthew 12:34, 35:
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Matthew 15:15-20:
15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Granted, a man can speak and do deceiving things with an evil heart. With the Holy Spirit's guidance, the truth of his words and his actions will prove him.
Romans 16:17, 18:
17
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Ephesians 4:14:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Romans 1:25:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.
Amen. A healthy heart requires a proper diet. If we fill our heart with good things it will overflow when full. It can only overflow with what is in it. Bad things come out of a heart full of bad things. You can only get out of something what you put into it.
Psalm 19:14:
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
By feeding our heart a proper diet we are conditioning our heart to produce fruit that others may feed on also. It is a mutual benefit.
Proverbs 3:1-10:
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Lord, may we keep our hearts with all diligence and feed it properly.
Psalm 51:10:
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Proverbs 4:23:
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Psalm 19:14:
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
