REMEMBERING WHY
WHY JESUS LOVES ME & WHY I LOVE JESUS
By Jay Pearson
First let us look at why Jesus loves me. Secondly Why we love Jesus and his Father.
When we forget the basic walk of love, additional walks become more difficult. Remembering why Jesus loves us is a humbling recollection. Remembering why we love Jesus and his Father is a swelling heart of thankfulness and gratitude.
Jesus loves me is a familiar phrase and even a more familiar song. Do we often think of the reason why Jesus loves me or just sing along with the lyrics? Let’s go on a treasure hunt today. Truly the answers to both whys are a treasure. Let’s search together.
Why Jesus Loves Me
Ephesians 2:1-5
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Does that sound like someone you would love? Let’s keep digging for Why Jesus loves me.
Romans 5:6-9
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
This is personal. Even though I was sinning the same as others, God chose me from the mix and sent Jesus to die for me, paying my debt, your debt, and others also. Wow, this is incredible.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
Why does he love me? Maybe it’s because I am a little bit smart, strong, and a little cool looking to others. You know, special. Maybe we should take a closer look!
1 Corinthians 1:26-29
26
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Obviously, I was wrong about that, but why would the Creator of heaven and earth consider me as a pleasure and forgive these flaws of mine and make me acceptable to others.
Ephesians 1:5-6
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
I am left with one simple answer to why Jesus loves me. That’s what he does!
1 John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
He loves us because he is love. What a treasure to find and believe.
Why We Love Jesus And His Father
1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us.
Wow that’s wonderful, that is a very simple answer to why we love him. Is there more? Yes!
Ephesians 2:1
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
He revived me. I was code blue. Another very good reason why I love him and there is more.
Romans 10:9-10
9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
He saved me when I didn’t even know I was drowning. God saved me FOREVER! He also equipped me for this new life venture.
While he was on earth, Jesus was the disciples' comforter.
John 14:15-18
15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
God sent the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, to us. With the Comforter we can comfort others. I love God and his son Jesus Christ because of everything he has done for me: all the grace, all the mercy, and all the forgiveness he shed on me. That’s why I love God. BECAUSE.
1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us.
The first Why is because he is LOVE. The second Why is because He first loved me. Without that love that he loved me with I could not love him. I could not love me and I could not love you and I could not love others. Thank you, Lord for loving us and for us loving you.
Jude 1:24-25
24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
