My March 2015 Mission to Uganda
April 1, 2015
Today is the first of April, a day we call "April Fools' Day." Traditionally this is a day when pranksters try to make fools of people. But for me, it brings this verse to mind:
1 Corinthians 4:10: We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
This year, April Fools' Day is just a few days before Easter Sunday, the most revered day of commemoration on the Church calendar. As Christians, we concede the point: if Christ is not risen from the dead, we are of all men most foolish.
1 Corinthians 15:14: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
The day will come when this mortal life will end for each of us. Then we will see once and for all who the real fools are.
I have been home from my trip to Uganda for a little over a week now. I am happy to say that despite the many challenges we faced along the way, this was a very successful and fruitful mission. I thank the Lord for his grace and mercy that are so abundant toward me. I am also very grateful for my wife and children, who allow me the freedom to make these trips. And deep in my heart I know that my ministry would not be possible without the friends and supporters of Workers Together With Him.
I am immensely grateful to Reverend Henry Musana for the great help he was to me before, during, and after my presentation of the Ministers' Training Series. Henry's wife Maureen was in her very last days of her pregnancy when I landed in Uganda. (We scheduled this mission months ago according to the due date suggested by Maureen's doctors, but they were off by several weeks). What with tending to Maureen and the children, making sure the church activites ran smoothly, and arranging for the seemingly endless repairs to the church van, Henry had a lot more on his plate than looking after me and the seminar. And even though the seminar had a rough start, none of these things became an excuse for tension between us. The peace of God was with us throughout this mission, and I know we were both very glad for that.
Every worthwhile pastor I've ever met wants to lead a congregation in which the members are excited to attend church because they feel truly loved, and they know their contribution is appreciated (and I'm not talking about the offering!). Every good pastor wants that, but very few have accomplished it. At the GEM Sanctuary, Pastor Henry leads a church where I believe any truth-seeking Christian would do well to call his church home, and I bless him for it. After all, Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). In a church, the evidence of that love begins and ends with the pastor. I am proud to have Henry representing me as the Director of WTWH-Uganda.
Special thanks to Pastor Elijah Mboizi who worked so hard to arrange this class, and to Yekolams Wamanga for his excellent work as my interpreter.

In two weeks, I leave for another mission in Tanzania. If it goes half as well as Uganda, I will be very satisfied.
Thank you for your love and support. I wish you all a very special Easter celebration.
In the service of His Majesty, the King of kings,
Tim Sullivan
